U.S. WAITING CHILDREN

Deaf Adoption News Service For parents who are deaf or are involved in some way with the deaf community, this service connects them with children who are deaf and need families, both domestically and internationally.

Faces of Adoption These are kids from all over the country who need a family. Most are in foster homes and many have special needs because they have emotional or behavioral challenges, are older, or are physically or mentally challenged. Children Awaiting Parents and the National Adoption Center host this site and will provide the names of each child's social worker if you inquire about adoption.

Growing Families, Inc. Based in New Jersey, GFI has waiting children for domestic and international adoptions. They place children from Guatemala, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Brazil and Honduras.

Internet Adoption Billboard, Association of American Non profit Adoption Agencies This is a division of an Arkansas agency--Families are Special; they have programs in the former Soviet Union and China.

New York State waiting children These N.Y. children are waiting for permanent homes.

Children's Home Society of Minnesota Based in St. Paul, CHSM places children from Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Greece, Honduras, India, Korea, Paraguay, Peru, Romania, the Russian Republic, Vietnam and the U.S.

Christian World Adoptions CWA is based in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and places children from Bolivia, China, Colombia, Guatemala and the Russian Republic.

Deaf Adoption News Service Families who are connected to the deaf community should peruse this site which connects them to waiting children who are deaf from various countries around the world.

Dept. of State information on international adoptions This is one of the most thorough sites I have seen. It has information on countries from A-Z, their requirements for adoption, the current status of adoptions there, and what to do if you are an American citizen adopting abroad. Excellent site.

Accept - An Adoption & Counseling Center Accept is based in Los Altos, California and does U.S. adoptions.

Adoption Associates, Inc. Based in Michigan, AAI places children from China, Guatemala and the Russian Republic and also does domestic adoptions.

Adoptions International This agency has an office in Seattle, Washington, and also has offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. They place children from Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, China and Russia.

Adoptions Together, Inc. ATI places children from Lithuania and is developing its site to offer information from families who have adopted from Lithuania.

Alliance for Children, Inc. With offices in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, this agency places children from Ecuador, Romania, China.

Americans for African Adoptions This agency places children from several African countries.

The Gladney Center Based in Fort Worth, Texas this agency does both international and domestic adoptions.

Global Adoption Services Based in Sheridan, Wyoming this agency places children from Russia.

International Assistance Adoption Project Based in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, this agency places children from Vietnam and China.

International Adoption Associates This agency is based in Jenison, Michigan and has as a goal to serve Internet clients. They place children from Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine.

Rainbow House International Adoption With offices in New Mexico and Colorado, RHI places children from Bangladesh, Guatemala, Moldova, Latvia, India, Korea, Ecuador, Russia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Brazil, China.

Seedlings, Inc. Seedlings, Inc. places children from China, Colombia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua and is based in Morristown, New Jersey.

Spence-Chapin Services to Families & Children this agency handles domestic and international adoptions.

Universal Aid for Children Based in Hollywood, Florida, this agency has placed children from Russia, Romania, Vietnam, El Salvador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, India, Jamaica, Korea, Bulgaria, Nepal, Nigeria and China.

Institute for Children  This Boston, Mass., based organization is dedicated to reshaping foster care and adoption in America so that every child will have the chance to grow up in a loving, permanent family.

Resources for Adoptive Parents This excellent site is part of "Precious In His Sight", an international photolisting of waiting children. It is very comprehensive and has many links to other agencies and resources.

Roots & Wings R&W is an excellent magazine on adoption & adoption resources.

Single Adoptive Fathers This is a home page for a single adoptive dad who has begun collecting resources and information about adoptions for single men. He has some information and resources here, a good beginning in this arena of scarce information.

Tapestry Books A good source for books on adoption, including many multi-cultural resources.

U.S. Adoption Law Materials This site from Cornell Law School has legal information.

Open Adoption

Adoption in the 90s...A Loving Option This site is a good introduction to what open adoption is about--essays, stories and articles about the varying kinds of open adoption.

American Association of Open Adoption Agencies This organization is a number of adoption agencies which are committed to open adoption. Under the same URL are links to some of the agencies which at present are all practicing within their own state only. In addition, also under the same URL, you can find an excellent page called Domestic Infant Adoption by Bill Betzen, a social worker with over 20 years experience in placing children.
